Shooting

There are of course inherent risks in any sport or activity that involves the use of firearms and to a great degree safety in the shooting field is reliant upon the conduct and discipline of those taking part.

The duty of those involved in the management of shooting sports is to minimise the exposure risk of those taking part or involved in the provision of the sport be they guns, gamekeepers, beaters or those picking-up. Whilst the management of the severe risks resulting from the handling of firearms are a matter of procedure and education, there are other associated hazards such as eye and hearing protection which need to be addressed to ensure that no party is exposed to unavoidable risk.
